I found the review about this hotel charging a security deposit of more than $1 incredulous. I also travel a lot both here in Australia and overseas and it’s the norm that a much larger amount than $1 be withheld as a security deposit. I’ve stayed here a number of times and will do so in the future. Yes, the rooms are small but very clean, great location with so many great coffee places close by.

My wife and I stayed here after finding a great price online. This is an older hotel and is smaller than those around it, so no views. However, it was super close to the two excursion meeting places we needed. The restaurant had a very good breakfast selection including GF options. This was a good place to sleep. The room was not exceptionally spacious but it worked for us. I would stay here again.

I moved rooms three times during my week long stay. The first room seemed very small for a Queen room, which was described as spacious on the website. Rain had leaked into the inside window ledges. The second room was larger and I had high hopes for it, but unfortunately the aircon unit over the bed dripped water onto the bed during the night - dirty water from the aircon doesn’t seem very hygienic. When I raised it with reception, they immediately moved me to another room - unfortunately that room had no hot water in the morning so I had a cold shower. Luckily, I was checking out that day. Other things to be aware of - all rooms had a huge aircon unit on the ceiling directly over the bed. It was too hot to turn off and quite loud. I slept with a towel over the top of my head to stop from waking up with a head ache as the cold air blows directly onto the bed. The rooms are quite clean but not as new as the pictures imply. At the time of booking the hotel website said it had a restaurant next door - this is more of a cafe and is not open for dinner. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the city, restaurants and the river. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Arrived early to get a car park and was also able to get into our room early. Thanks to the check in staff from phone calls to personal contact everything was great. The room 808 was very clean and comfortable. The room was quiet and off an adequate size for 2 people Hotel is in a great location

We stayed at the George Williams Hotel for 3 nights in January 2024. The room was neat, clean and tidy and bathroom was spacious and looked newly renovated. We had a room for 2 adults and an older child so our room had 2 queen size beds. The location was fantastic, only a few mins walk to Queen Street where there was lots of shopping and also only a few minutes walk to the casino. There is a 7/11 next to the hotel, liquor store across the road and a lovely restaurant where we had breakfast every morning which was delicious, convenient and well priced. We really enjoyed our stay, especially due to location and price.
